Maines Design is now Mottram & Maines
Emily Mottram and I have been working in the same world for a long time. We co-authored the Pretty Good House book, built BS*+Beer together and have spent years thinking through the same questions from complementary angles. Merging our practices into Mottram & Maines is the natural next step.
For clients, this means more: more capacity to take on the projects that deserve real attention, a deeper team with shared standards and a broader platform to keep pushing our work forward. The priorities haven't changed: enclosure, water management, indoor air quality, durability, and design that performs as well as it looks. What's changed is our ability to deliver on all of it, consistently, at a higher level.

Pretty Good House
We co-wrote this book to describe our approach to designing homes and renovations that are energy efficient, comfortable, attractive, durable, easy on the environment and cost no more than necessary.
